Understanding the Features and Benefits of Honda’s Warranty

New Vehicle Limited Warranty

This warranty covers most of the systems and components in your Honda, including the 12v battery. In the very unlikely event of an issue with the materials or labor used in the manufacturing process, the issue will be corrected at a Honda dealer at no charge. Any necessary repair is performed by Honda-trained technicians using only Honda-approved replacement parts.

Warranty protection applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Warranty coverage doesn’t apply in certain situations, for example, unauthorized modifications, accidental damage, or damage due to normal wear and tear. These situations are explained in detail in your warranty handbook.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

The powertrain comprises your engine, transmission and transaxle, and FWD or RWD drive systems. Almost every component in these systems is covered for the first five years or 60,000 miles. The list of protected components includes the cylinder block, timing chain and cover, all internal transmission components, and the driveshafts.

Items that are not covered by this warranty are listed in the warranty booklet. Certain situations, similar to the exceptions listed in the warranty above, are not covered under the Powertrain warranty.

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty

All the metal panels and sections in your Honda have specialized coatings applied to them during manufacture. These coatings protect the metal against rust or corrosion. If rust appears on your Honda during the warranty period and forms a hole, known as perforation, the affected metal section will be replaced at no charge. Perforation protection applies for five years with no mileage limits.

Seat Belt Warranty

Seat belts are an essential safety feature, and this warranty protects the belts and their mechanisms against any defect. Warranty protection applies for fifteen years or 150,000 miles.

California Emissions Warranty

Emissions are the dangerous, toxic chemicals produced by combustion. These chemicals are a major source of pollution, and your Honda’s emissions system works to convert them into harmless chemicals. New York follows the California emissions standards, and your Honda’s emissions control system meets these stringent requirements.

Most components are protected for three years or 50,000 miles. If your Honda fails a smog test during this time, the issues that caused the failure will be repaired for free. In addition, certain components have extended coverage of seven years or 70,000 miles.
