The Civic Hatchback has a 150-horsepower engine, while the CR-V gets 190 hp. Both models come with a continuously variable automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. You can upgrade the CR-V to all-wheel drive. The Civic Hatchback provides up to 41 highway miles per gallon, and you’ll get up to 34 highway mpg with the CR-V. You’ll have 18-inch alloy wheels with the Civic and either 18-inch or 20-inch wheels with the CR-V.
Interior Space and Features
You’ll have 24.5 cubic feet of cargo space in the Civic Hatchback and more than 39 cubic feet in the back of the CR-V. Both models come with push-button start and automatic climate control, with options like keyless entry and a moonroof. You can also enhance the CR-V with a universal garage door opener, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote start.
Both models have similar passenger space. You’ll have about an inch more headroom in the front and rear of the CR-V. The Civic has an inch of extra legroom in the front, while the CR-V has about 4 inches of extra legroom in the second row. You can comfortably seat five people in either option, with 99 cubic feet of total passenger volume in the hatchback and 106 cubic feet in the crossover.
Infotainment Tech
Both the Civic Hatchback and CR-V have a 7-inch touchscreen and 7-inch digital instrument cluster. They also share standard Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Civic also has built-in Amazon Alexa voice commands.
You can upgrade either vehicle with a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen and wireless smartphone connectivity. The Civic Hatchback comes with an eight-speaker stereo or an optional 12-speaker Bose audio system. The CR-V has a standard four-speaker audio system, with the eight-speaker or 12-speaker systems available as options. The hatchback offers a larger 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
Advanced Driver Assistance
Each model has an array of standard safety features, including a rearview camera, rear-seat alert, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and forward automatic emergency braking.
Both vehicles offer optional blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic emergency braking, and rear-cross traffic alert. The CR-V adds reverse collision warning to the list of available upgrades.
